Do We Continue?

“Do We Continue?” – A Theatrical Cry Against Violence
When silence becomes a shackle and resistance turns into art, the play “Do We Continue?” emerges as a powerful voice for those who have been silenced. This production is the result of a collaboration between El-Pergola Puppet Theatre and Schaubude Theatre in Berlin, bringing together a group of Syrian women in an intensive training program where they mastered puppet manipulation, acting, and scriptwriting, guided by the director Rania Refaat.
The outcome? A compelling theatrical performance that fearlessly delves into the pain of women suffering from domestic violence—not just as personal stories, but as a universal issue. The play goes beyond mere storytelling, sparking a conversation about Germany’s personal status laws and how they can protect women from abusive partners, fostering deeper connections between refugees and German society.
“Do We Continue?” is more than just a performance—it is an artistic stand against silence, an invitation to dialogue, and a step toward real change.
