“I Have a Dream” – A Play That Redraws Hope on Stage
In the heart of one of Cairo’s underprivileged neighborhoods, where dreams struggle to find their place amidst harsh realities, the play “I Have a Dream” was born as a unique artistic project blending creativity with a powerful social message. This production, in collaboration with El-Pergola Puppet Theatre and the Italian foundation ”COSPE”, provided a group of young people with an unprecedented opportunity to learn the art of puppetry and acting, transforming their talents into a meaningful theatrical experience.
The script was developed in collaboration with writer Rania Refaat, giving a voice to those who are often unheard. The play sheds light on the struggles, dreams, and rights of people with disabilities, emphasizing their need for a society and legal system that ensure fairness and inclusion, allowing them to live with dignity like everyone else.
“I Have a Dream” is not just a play; it is a living theatrical message, urging audiences to reflect on the challenges faced by marginalized communities and the power of art to inspire change.
